First, I would provide quite a bit of resources for students before I know whether they are actually at risk. This could include research assignments and writing assignments that could help students learn about substance abuse. Then, I would provide support in whatever way I could.
2. Should a school have classes available to educate young mothers on parenting?
I believe that a school should have a resource for young mothers and fathers though perhaps not a class. If it is a class it should be after school or during lunch. I do not believe it should be included in the curriculum. Perhaps there could be a different resource, such as a counselor or website for them to have easy access to.
3. Do federal curriculum programs impact schools positively or negatively?
I think federal curriculum programs can be both positive and negative. It can improve the education given to students but it can also limit the students learning to only that which is included on the state tests. Rather than be focus on general learning of a whole individual, teachers are forced to restrict their learning. Or they feel too rushed to take the time to really delve into some topics that might really engage the students.
4. Do you think high stakes testing is fair for every student?
No, high stakes tests, although they seem to be the same for everybody are very unfair. High stakes tests don’t take into account multiple types of learning, disabilities or differences.

By providing resources for them to learn more. This could be accomplished through research assignments and writing assignments. It also could help if my classroom is a safe environment where all students are welcome and appreciated. I would hope that by getting to know my students I could eventually be somebody they could trust enough to come to about anything they need.

Students look up teachers whether they realize that or not. As a teacher, we should model healthy lifestyles for our students. Once again, we could also introduce this into our research topics for learning.

Make it very clear in my classroom that bullying will not be tolerated. Students will know what bullying is because it is such a popular topic taught in schools so I would probably be required to teach it if the school doesn’t do a seminar on it.

By providing counselors, support and understanding. With the understanding that could mean allowing students extra time to work on their homework or even helping them out. Although making exceptions is not always the best for a classroom atmosphere, sometimes you do ned to make allowances.

I think it is important to introduce student rights to students and allow them to understand all the ins and outs of the laws and their rights. This is especially true in the classroom where they can learn about democracy, cooperation and all those things that relate to student rights. For example, students can help create the class rules. I think it would also be fascinating to explore with the students the dress codes and how the first amendment affects them in school. I think it would be fascinating for them to learn why there are school rules and how they came to be there.

School policies should reflect the situation and needs of the schools. It cannot be the same for every situation and community. By thinking about school policies in different ways we can help create a policy that is best for the students at that time. That means that the policy should be adaptable to time and place. As the students change, it could change.

Technology is a vital piece of our world today and students need to know how to use it not just in out of school matters but also in school or in work. This opportunity to use technology in schools allows them to temper some of the negative aspects of technology while still practicing the positive, helpful aspects.
